Appliance Wire Buying Conditions
- Electrical wire widely used for powering home appliances, with a copper content of around 35% (the internal conductors are thin).
- The wire ends may remain attached, but non-wire parts such as AC adapters, plugs, or power strips are treated as dust and subject to a deduction.
- Appliance wire is thin, and these parts can be easily removed with scissors.
- When compared with VA cable (F cable, flat gray wire) in terms of copper content, the value may appear lower than the actual difference in copper ratio.
- This is because the internal conductors are thin and do not become Bare Bright Wire even when stripped.
- There are lower-grade miscellaneous wires with copper content lower than appliance wire, such as coaxial cable (antenna wire) or miscellaneous wire containing iron wire.
- Some of these cannot be purchased, as the cost of stripping exceeds the value of the recovered copper.
- Wires whose covering is difficult to strip, such as those made of metal (iron, lead, metal mesh, etc.) or hard resin, may not be purchased.
- Since the purpose is to extract and recycle the internal copper wire, ease of stripping is essential.
- Difficult-to-strip braided/armored marine cables (Armored Cable) are not purchased.
- Fiber optic cables are not handled at all.
- If any contamination is found, the item is not accepted for purchase.
