About Ohata Shoji Canada Inc.
Learn how we combine Japanese recycling expertise with Canadian operations to give electronics a second life.
Serving Metro Vancouver with electronics & scrap metal recycling, backed by over 25 years of experience from Japan.
Our Mission
Ohata Shoji Canada Inc. is committed to building a reuse and recycling ecosystem where valuable IT equipment and electronic resources are responsibly recovered and given a second life.
Guided by the spirit of our Japanese parent company’s philosophy — “1kgからはじめるリサイクル” (Recycling that starts from just 1 kg) — we welcome everything from a single device to larger corporate IT loads.
Our mission is simple: to make recycling accessible, transparent and sustainable for everyone.
Our Story
Ohata Shoji Inc. was founded in Osaka, Japan in 1998. From the very beginning, the company has focused on electronics recycling, non-ferrous metal recovery and the handling of IT equipment and electronic boards.
As global demand for IT asset recycling and electronic board processing grew, the company expanded its activities beyond Japan. In 2025, Ohata Shoji Canada Inc. was established in Delta, British Columbia, to bring our expertise to the North American market.
Starting from a compact yet highly functional yard on Annacis Island, we began building a service that connects:
- local businesses disposing of IT equipment,
- individuals selling or recycling PCs and components,
- international markets seeking high-quality refurbished electronics.
Our Canadian branch inherits the same core values as our headquarters: fairness, accuracy, safety and environmental responsibility.
Our Values
- Integrity — We operate honestly and transparently in all transactions.
- Safety First — Proper handling, safe working conditions and staff training are non-negotiable.
- Environmental Responsibility — We aim to reduce waste and maximize resource recovery from electronic devices.
- Efficiency — From unloading and sorting to testing and shipping, we pursue lean, efficient workflows.
- Accessibility — True to our motto “1kgからはじめるリサイクル”, we welcome small drop-offs as well as large corporate projects.
- Global Perspective — With Japan as our foundation, we connect local Canadian recycling with international reuse and recovery markets.
Message from the Director
“When we entered the Canadian market, our first priority was clear: to handle every load — from a single PC to a full corporate IT refresh — with the same level of honesty and care.
Our goal is to provide a trustworthy, efficient solution for IT recycling, electronic board processing and refurbished electronics. We bring the careful, detail-oriented approach built in Japan over more than two decades, and apply it here in Canada for both local communities and global partners.”
— Xin Leng, Director, Ohata Shoji Canada Inc.
Our Philosophy
Recycling is not only about volume; it is about responsibility, transparency and continuity.
A PC that has finished its first role for one user may still be valuable for someone else. That second life often starts with just 1 kg, or a single device.
With our roots in Japan and our future in Canada, we aim to build a responsible flow of electronics — from local hands into the global circular economy.
“Recycling starts with just 1 kg — and together, we can turn that into something larger.”
